Post processing (Sue & Gideon's Wedding)
Sue & Gideon's wedding coming up. Meantime, this is a glimpse of post processing. A photograph can take anywhere between 5 minutes or an hour of work depending on the complexity of the image and the story I would like to tell. This shot was taken during the processional.
Original image. The video photographer distracts the story (the processional). To be really critical - the orange tone due to halogen lights are too warm (notice the white dress is orange).
Video photographer 'deleted'. Orange tone is fixed. Photo cropped to focus on the flowergirl. The white cloth to the left is still too distracting and is near impossible to fix with my skills(I would have to redraw the wall, tiles and red carpet).
Add an artificial lighting spot in the middle to create a 'vignetting' effect - effectively blocking out the margins. However, now that the eyes focus on the middle, the concentration of colours and the bright right upper corner can be distracting.
Photo as above in black and white as an experiment. The lack of colours also distract because of a concentration of 'lines' in the middle.
Final product - selective colouring to bring out the best from the last 2 pictures.
Before After. Total working time 45 minutes.
